Description :

Rotenberg used to produce a lot of sweet wines in the past, and will certainly produce some exceptional VTs or SGNs in the future. However, the ageing vines, bio-dynamic farming, lots of changes in the canopy management have allowed us to be able to also harvest these grapes earlier, aiming for more elegant and drier style Pinot Gris. The natural ability of the Rotenberg to produce low yields also helps the wine to acquire complexity and density without sugar. Facing west, on a poor rocky red calcareous mother rock, the Pinot Gris feels at home here

Tasting Notes :

3/2015: pure limestone influenced nose. There is almost a citrus influence there after some aeration. There is definitely a sensation of austerity and a lean mineral character on the palate. However, the wine develops slowly and does show its potential and great structure. Please take enough time to understand this wine and there will be no regrets. The finish is dry, but the acidity is enveloped in a velvety saline salivation. Needs ageing and great food!
