The Domaine Zind-Humbrecht cultivates 2.4ha of Grand Cru Brand and only the oldest vines are used for the Grand vin. All other are declassified in this wine. Without of course the strong Grand Cru signature, the granitic soil brings strong characteristics to the wine. The drainage capacity and warmth of the granite will have a strong influence on the style of this wine. It is easy, especially in 2017, to find the classic generosity, an open fruity expression, ripe acidity, not so aggressive, with an early drinking capacity. The 2017 is a beautiful example and is getting very close to its big brother in style and quality. The fermentation was very slow (over 18 months), so we were relieved to see the wine finishing dry.
9/2019: intense yellow colour. The nose shows a beautiful fruity expression, quite open and showy. Glorious expression of the granite in 2017. The palate is racy, dense, showing a sapid and ripe acidity. Great length and intensity in this wine. Like all 2017, the dry extract richness brings weight and complexity. It will probably be drunk too early, because it is already enjoyable, but some extra ageing will reveal the true potential of this wine
