Description :

The Heimbourg hillside in Turckheim (9ha) faces the Brand and overlooks the Munster valley. It is also the only vineyard in Turckheim which is detached from the Vosges mountains. It benefits from cool westerly or northernly winds that keep the grapes very healthy, despite the exposition of the vineyard. The Pinot-Noir represent an oddity amongst a majority of Riesling and Pinot-Gris. It is both the later ripening west facing climate and the iron rich limestone that convinced us to plant some red grapes there. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in an open tank with minimum punch down (pigeage). The wine stay on the skin for about 15 days before being racked into traditional barrels (pièces) of 228L and will continue its elevage for a further 12 months. It is bottled without fining or filtration. A little deposit is therefore to be expected with time

Tasting Notes :

4/2020: Clear bright rubis red colour. The nose shows fresh red fruits, is very inviting and open. The palate shows a delicious texture, round tannins to start with but firms up on the finish. Nice round mid palate, very ‘gourmand’, it is showing some power and length. Highly drinkable
