Description of the wine Riesling Roche Calcaire 2014

This wine originates mostly from the village of Gueberschwihr. All seven little vineyards were planted in the 60s and 70s and are located on rich marl-limestone based soils. It is quite a late ripening village, which explains the nice acidities and structure of the wines. Perfect ripeness in 2014 but slow fermentation, like all 2014 Riesling wines. Just like most previous vintages, it kept a very light roundness which is barely noticeable.

Tasting notes

02/2016 : Bright pale yellow colour. The nose exhibits the classic mineral/stone aromatics, note quite fully open yet and announcing a concentrated style. The wine is broad on the palate, feels almost oily with a classic pure crisp acidity, so typical of this village. Concentrated, long finish, it has a good potential of evolution. The acidity is saline and maintains this wine at an elegant level.
