Description of the wine Pinot Gris Rotenberg 1999
This vineyard, small in size but huge in terms of quality, because of its soil (calcaire rich with iron), produced a highly aromatic, complete wine. The nose is very open ( quince jelly, hazelnuts) and the elegant palate fines on a unctuous delicate texture. The quality and maturity of the acidity gives a youthful freshness to the wine.
The Rotenberg of Wintzenheim
The Rotenberg is the summit of the hill whose south facing slopes make up the Grand Cru Hengst. The steep slopes of Rotenberg are west facing and look onto the Haut Landsbourg Chateau. The point where the slope turns towards the north is the start of a small lieu-dit called Hinterberg, within the Rotenberg.
