Description of the wine Pinot Gris Turckheim 2024
The vineyards are located on the alluvial valley floor next to the village of Turckheim. These vines are always the first to be harvested on the domaine because Pinot-gris is precocious and this area enjoys early ripening conditions and less shadows from the Vosges mountains. Being the first grapes to be harvested, we are always anxious to see the result and hope that we didn’t wait too long. For once, nature was generous, because Pinot-gris can be sometimes very low yielding, especially low fertile massal selections. The grapes were healthy, and the fermentation was fast and vigorous allowing to produce a very dry wine.
Tasting notes
8/2025: yellow colour. The nose immediately reveals the classic smoky, toasty aromas often associated with this grape variety in Alsace. It will gain more expression with time and should eventually also show honey, bee wax with time. The palate displays a certain intensity of flavour and good presence with a great structure and a nice concentration. Really dry wine with no aggressivity and velvety finish. The saline acidity reenforces the noble bitterness. Like all Turckheim wines, the finish is elegant and so enjoyable today.
