Description of the wine Muscat Grand Cru Goldert 2024

Goldert is an Oolithic limestone terroir, facing east on a gentle slope, just north of the village of Gueberschwihr. Muscat grape varieties (especially Muscat Petit Grain here) have always been present on this Grand Cru. Very few terroirs in Alsace have really managed to acquire a strong reputation with this grape variety, but in these rare situations, Muscat is radiant with complexity. So much so that in 2019 we decided to make it the only grape variety on this Grand Cru. The exposure to the east (less exposed to the sun) and the depth of the soil (cold) make it possible to regularly obtain wines that have a lighter alcohol and therefore have the capacity to finish on a very dry balance. It is a terroir which also allows for extraordinary ageing capacity. The oldest wines in the estate's wine library are made from this grape variety on this Grand Cru.

Tasting notes

1/2026: Bright pale yellow color. The nose is delicately aromatic, floral at first, evolving towards citrus and white fruit notes. The limestone soil of Goldert dominates the wine, which hides its aromatic intensity behind a fine, elegant, and chiseled structure. The cold climate of this terroir in a late year is reflected in an airy and precise palate. Moderately powerful, this wine is incredibly easy to drink and expresses a purity unique to this terroir. This wine is very reminiscent of the style produced by this terroir in the 1980s... wines that are sublime today.
