Description of the wine Pinot Gris Roche Roulée 2017

This wine is made from all the Pinot-Gris vineyards located on the gravelly valley floor around the winery in Turckheim. Usually sold with the Turckheim village characteristics. However, in 2017, we loss a lot of grapes to the frost. The result is a wine unusually rich and with a concentration that didn’t allow it to become bone dry as usual, so we decided to sell it under the ‘Roche’ presentation. The fermentation was actually quite fast, but eventually the yeast kept a small natural sweetness. It is a very interesting wine to compare with the Calcaire and Volcanique expressions of Pinot-Gris

Tasting notes

03/2019 : Bright yellow gold colour. The nose is already very expressive, showing honey aromas, fruits, quince… all aromatics typical of high ripeness. The Roche Roulée 2017 is a wonderful invitation to the world of tasty Pinot Gris ! The palate is velvety, rich, and the natural tannic richness of the vintage help to hide the small amount of sweetness. Immediately satisfying and pleasing, it can be enjoyed young. The natural warmth of the vineyard brings a certain generosity and ample finish.
